These leggings were first created simply for pairing with tops in National Picnic photo shoots, and surprise, customers asked for them.

Leggings are everywhere. But these are NOT polyester or nylon like the athletic ones. Sewn right here in the U.S., AND of U.S. milled fabric (which in the legging world, makes them pretty rare and special). So they'll stick around on the website for those who want them, made to order. Allow about a week to sew before shipping.

Thanks for asking about them and letting us know why you like them. The cuff at the ankle, nice touch. They seem to be just the right length. They hug your leg, but not skin tight. See the photos, they are worn pretty true to size. 

Most fans of these wear them for layering—under clothing that covers the butt. We've processed a lot of feedback on these! If you prefer the type of leggings advertised as shapewear, or standalone pants, these soft, comfort-instead-of-compression leggings are probably not for you. 

One customer does love them for yoga. National Picnic didn't think it made yogawear, but it makes perfect sense. So much stretch.

Why bombshell? It's the slimmest fitting, scoopiest neckline in the brand's collection. A good choice for when you need less bulk to tuck into skirts and show waistbands. Layers well. A true workhorse of a style, this flattering basic is available in several colors.

It is sewn of Rayon/Spandex blend (silky sheen, heathered colors, fabric is milled in the Northeast USA). Yarn-dyed heathered colors have a textured look and a soft hand. "Solid Black" isn't heathered. "Stripe" is made of alternating Black and Sky yarns.

This top does not have a loose drape like many other National Picnic styles. It needs a little cling so the neck doesn't fall open when you lean forward. Expect a closer to body fit, but not super tight. Size down for a little more va-voom.

What is slim fit? Our "Slim" styles fit closer to the body fit than other styles. It hugs your waist more. It's meant to be that way, for people that don't prefer the looser drape of our classic Picnic fit styles.

Made from a premium milled-in-the-USA Rayon/Spandex, has a silky hand and subtle sheen, medium weight and generous 4 way stretch.

Slim means arms fit close right up to shoulder (slides easily into jackets and sweaters, and fits closer to torso with a gentle hourglass curve at the waist. A great layering piece. 

Size down for even more body-conscious snugness, it will rise to the occasion with its generous stretch. Sizing down also works well if you're using it as an underlayer for the coldest days.

A nostalgic wrap skirt design, comes in both blue (Indigo) and black (Smoke) shades of medium weight denim. It is a true wrap style, overlapping in the front. Slotted opening for threading the belt through. It can be tied into a decorative bow at the back OR the ties can reach back around to the front for a shorter tie. Clean and undistressed.

Fit is adjustable, your size will fit not just the size you choose but likely the adjacent sizes as well. It's the easiest fit we make.

32" long skirt hits somewhere between mid calf and ankle on average heights. It wraps into a tall A-line (even the smallest size requires 3 yards of fabric to complete), evoking silhouettes popular in the 1970s. The suggestion of apron ties nods to a few other decades. It has a vintage air, but is sewn from fresh, new material.

High-waisted look—it is designed to tie at your natural waist.

Jeans-meets-pajamas in a lighter weight denim with wide leg style.

High-waisted, gathered elastic waistband for pull-on style. We do not stonewash or distress the garment after sewing. The weight of this denim makes it naturally softer, with a swingy drape. A polished denim look that becomes more broken in over time. These are wide and straight, not wide and flared out near the hem. Patch pockets and topstitching down the outside leg seam.

Two lengths are offered:

Regular: a good choice for 5'6" women and under. It is intended to have a playful shorter look at average heights, they will likely graze or show ankle on all but the petite, depending on your height. 37" on the side seam from top of waistband to hem, 26" inseam. 

Long (3 inches longer than Regular): Appx. 40" on the side seam, measured from top of waistband to hem. Appx 29" inseam. Try LONG if you want to wear a longer length, want it to graze or cover heels, plan to hem it (by yourself by your local alterations specialist), or are a taller gal.

When using measurements to decide fit, please note that this pant's higher waist sits at the smallest part of the waist. We can sew these with a raw unfinished hem for you to tailor, reach out and request.

Tencel fabric is a thicker woven twill, some versions we make in cotton are lighter fabrics. However, Tencel isn't as structured and will flow and drape more toward the body. Fully opaque.

We sew them to order, allow about a week to sew before shipping. 

Rayon provides its silky sheen and feel. The top is the slim fitting long sleeve (see solid-colored choices here). Wear them together for a longjohns look. Layerable, easy pieces for extra warmth. 

Order a size down if you want a fit more like a bodysuit. You can see in the photos that it is not a tech fabric, no compression. The leggings are for comfort, they don't behave like shapewear. Waistband sits higher, near belly button. Great for a layer of warmth under dresses, skirts and tunics—when you're not wearing them as pajamas.

Other acceptable care: Dry cleaning is also an option. 
Processes to avoid: Do not put in the dryer, or use warm or hot water, it will shrink your garment (mostly in length but also a little in width). Do not use bleach.

A dress boiled down to its simplest form, sure and simple. A fast solution for what to throw on when it's hot, easily coordinating under more clothing as air conditioning or weather might shift. 

Raglan sleeves and trimmed armholes give it a sporty touch, the fact that it's a dress still keeps it, well, dressy!

Narrow silhouette: this isn't a tube shape, rather, it has some curves of a body. When worn true to size, it should drape with a little looseness from the bust down. Want a closer fit? Size down.

No pockets on this one, so those those sizing down can have a body-conscious fit with no pocket lumps. 

The fabric itself is milled in the USA, a quality medium weight jersey knit. A Rayon/Spandex blend, it has a silky sheen that's a wee bit dressier. Will drape toward the body. Yarn-dyed heathered colors have a textured look and a soft hand.

This dress's silhouette hides the midsection, with a healthy swing due to the weight of the fabric. Pockets with room to fill. The playful length suits bare legs, leggings, even jeans. 

For this one, choose your size based on your shoulders. The neckline will appear strained/taut if you try on a size that is smaller than needed. This dress drapes freely from the bust down.
